Welcome to Calgary, Alberta, Canada eh!
Sorry the live picture feeds of Calgary from Calgary 7 News will be unavailable till October, they are merging with Global TV, but we have other great pictures and links on this page of Calgary and surrounding areas. Please wait till it has fully loaded - it is well worth it! |
Calgary is a beautiful and dynamic city snuggled east of the Rockies in
Alberta, Canada.

The photo above is a nice picture of my city and the building in the front is our NHL Calgary Flames hockey arena. It's not a building at the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede that had it's roof caved in from the snow! Also note the tall tower in the background, called the Calgary Tower (nee: Husky tower)was copied to shape the torch for the 1988 Winter Olympics held in Calgary.
Our city is proud to host many special events and conventions...every year in the second week of July the world famous Calgary Exhibition and Stampede takes place. The whole city joins in during that week to cut loose and have fun. Even downtown bankers wear jeans and cowboy hats! Because of this western hospitality, we were honoured (Canadian spelling eh!) that the Rotarians decided to hold their huge annual convention in our city 1996, the World Police and Fire Games in 1997, and of course don't forget the 1988 Winter Olympics were held here also!
Calgary (Picture #2), is in Alberta, Canada, and snuggled beside the Rockies. About hour west of the city is Lake Louise and Banff...world class tourist and ski spots.
The population in Calgary is about 780,000 and growing. Many major head offices are relocating to Calgary because of the low taxes and dynamic city personality. Canadian Pacific Rail just moved their head office here for an example. The big cities are just becoming too much of a problem I guess not only in crime but transportation. (I won't even mention Vancouver, BC ok?) You can still get around Calgary within the 1/2 hour thanks to the freeways and which are built lower then the surrounding areas to reduce noise. Geeze I sound like a sales man eh?
Hey, take some time and visit these web sites for more info on the mountains and skiing/hiking going on... Kananaskis, Banff and Lake Louise. Beautiful country. Fresh air, friendly people, and lots of elbow room.
Also check all of the links I have highlighted here for a greater appreciation of this beautiful province! See some pictures of the Rocky Mountains, that are about 45 minutes to the west of Calgary!
