The following article, translated into Hungarian by Oroszi Agi, appeared in
the LOVE CHURCHES' periodical OROMHIRADO, published by Jim Sanders in
Budapest, in September 1997.
In Hungary today a false teaching is rampant that in order to be saved a
contradictory of what the Bible says about how to be saved! Confession of
sins has absolutely no part in GETTING saved. The Scriptures do assign to
believers ALREADY saved the responsibility to confess sins which repairs or
restores fellowship (1 John 1:9), but, I must repeat because God's Word so
insists, confession of sins has absolutely no part in GETTING saved.
How could anyone confess all the sins he has committed? How could anyone
remember all the sins he has committed? Sins are not only the wrongs one has
done, but the right acts he should have performed. "To him that knoweth two
do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin" (James 4:17). Sins of omission
are serious, just as sins of commission. Who could recall them all. Of
course, God can, but he does not want to. God wants to forget the
unbeliever's sins, not be reminded of them by hearing or seeing the list!
Isa. 43:25 is decisive here. The Lord who provides opportunity for salvation
declares emphatically, "I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions
for mine own sake (That means "because I want to") and will not remember thy
sins" (which means God wills not to remember our sins). The English LIVING
BIBLE has it, "I, yes I alone am He who blots away your sins for my own sake
and WILL NEVER THINK OF THEM AGAIN!" Hallelujah!
The Lord does not want to hear about our sins or read a written record of
confessions, He wants to blot out all sins completely, to annihilate
absolutely the whole list, to eradicate the entire record, HE WANTS TO
FORGET ALL THE BELIEVERS SINS. And God can do what he wants!
To require anything but faith for salvation from the sinner makes the cross of
Jesus Christ insufficient. It lies that the cross plus confession of sins are
necessary in order to get saved. GLORY TO GOD, THAT'S A LIE!
Faith in Jesus is enough! Man can add nothing to what Jesus finished at
Calvary. The only confession that has anything to do with getting saved and
born again is CONFESSION OF FAITH.
Here is the Confession used in the Love Churches in Hungary. Thousands have
been saved from hell and are as sure of heaven as if they were already there
by sincerely from the heart making this profession:
"I believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
I believe that Jesus died for my sins according to (the testimony of) the
Bible.
I believe that Jesus rose from the dead for my justification.
I ask you Jesus to be my Lord, my Saviour and my Healer.
Jesus, You are my Lord, My Saviour and my Healer.
And I am saved.
This is the truth for the Word of God is truth.
