Brazilian Jubilee Cookies

1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
2 t. vanilla
1-1/2 c. flour, plus some to give body to dough
1 t. baking powder
1/2 t. cinnamon
2 T. instant coffee, dissolved in 2 T. boiling or very hot water

chocolate kisses, or chocolate chips

Cream butter and sugars together well; add egg, coffee, and vanilla.
Add baking powder, cinnamon, and flour gradually.

Chill dough or use right away.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Shape into balls the size of large walnuts and place on ungreased baking 
sheets.  Bake 10-12 mins.  Place candy kiss or 3-4 chocolate bits on top
of each baked cookie as soon as they are out of the oven.  When soft,
spread over top of cookie; cool thoroughly.

Makes approximately 3 dozen cookies.
