Preheat oven 350

Line 13"x 9" pan with foil.

combine flour, sugar, salt till blended.

Cut in 14 tablespoons butter.

Press into pan.

Bake 18 - 20 minutes till browned.

Cool completely

Combine 1 cup butter, brown sugar and corn syrup in heavy sauce pan.

Cook over medium heat 5 - 8 minutes until boiling stirring frequently.

Boil gently 2 minutes without stirring

Pour over cooled base; spread evenly to edges with metal spatula.

Cool

Melt chocolate in double boiler over hot (hot simmering) water.

Stir in remaining 2 tablespoons butter.

Pour over cooled caramel layer.

Refrigerate 10 - 15 minutes till chocolate begins to set.

Remove; cool completely.

Cut into bars
