James married Mary Ann DUFFY in July 1856 and they had 5 (known) children.
Mary Ann was born in 1838 in Cork, Ireland to Daniel DUFFY and Mary Ann DAWSON.

The FULLERTON family arrived in Victoria in 1871, all the known children were born in Ireland before that time, except Hugh Alexander FULLERTON who was born in 1873 in North Melbourne.

Discrepencies certainly occur here, Hugh's birth certificate states his parents as the above James and Mary Ann FULLERTON. Yet according to the marriage certificate of Ellen FULLERTON in 1882, her father (James FULLERTON) was dec'd in 1868! This would have been before the birth of Hugh in 1873. The birth certificate has the father as James FULLERTON.

The children of James FULLERTON and Mary Ann DUFFY are as follows:

Hannah FULLERTON....born 1858, then Margaret Jane FULLERTON.....born 1859, the first son, James, was born in 1862, then Ellen FULLERTON was born in 1863. Ten years later, Hugh Alexander FULLERTON was born on January 28 1873 in North Melbourne. No other children have been located at this time (October 1996)

Hannah FULLERTON who was born in Coleraine in 1858, died at South Yarra in 1879.
Margaret Jane FULLERTON, born in Coleraine in 1859, married John NORMAN in Melbourne on November 18 1876.
James FULLERTON, born in 1862, probably in County Derry, arrived in Victoria in 1871 with his family, but I have no further information on him, other than that he died after 1910.
Ellen FULLERTON, born in 1863 married George Alexander SPENCER at home (52 Malvern Road; Prahran) on July 5 1882.
Hugh Alexander FULLERTON - who was born on January 28 1873 - married Jane LANE in 1907.
In 1880, Mary Ann DUFFY is living at 52 Malvern Road, Prahran with her daughter, Margaret and son-in-law.............
