Jabez PYWELL and Elizabeth HORN
Jabez was born in 1848 in Derbyshire, England
to Nathanial Stanson PYWELL and his wife Catherine BUXTON. The PYWELL family
arrived in Australia on the "James Brown" in 1852............Jabez
was 4 years old.
Elizabeth HORN was born in Cambridgeshire, England in 1846. Her parents
were John HORN and Rhoda AKERS, the family apparently left England soon
after the birth of Elizabeth and arrived in Australia in 1846/47.
Jabez and Elizabeth married in May 1868 at Geelong and had ten children:
John, the first, was born in January 1869 and died soon after. The second child was also named John, he was born at Indented Head in January 1871, he married Annie CUSWORTH at Preston in 1891.
Alfred Jabez PYWELL was born at the end of 1871 and married the sister of Annie in 1897, Annie's sister being Isabella CUSWORTH who was born in 1874.
Christopher Edward was born at Portarlington in 1872 and in 1902 married Annie Theresa WHELAN.
In 1876, Amy Elizabeth Caroline PYWELL was born at Portarlington, but died the following year.
Sarah Christina PYWELL was born in 1878 and married William BIRD in 1898 when she was aged 20.
In 1879, Oliver Walter was born at Portarlington and married Alice Maud BARRAND in 1908, then in 1881 Julia Blanche PYWELL was born at East Bellarine. Julia later married John WATKINS.
Ernest Albert was born in 1883 and married Ellen
WIRK in 1909, then the last child, Rhoda Alice PYWELL who was born in 1890
married James Bartlett WATTS.
Jabez PYWELL, born in Derbyshire in 1848, died at Portarlington in 1892.
His wife Elizabeth, died at the home of her daughter Rhoda, in North Poowong
in 1922.
The second child of Jabez and Elizabeth was John PYWELL who married Annie CUSWORTH in 1891. Annie was born at Williamstown in 1870 to George CUSWORTH and Georgina PLANT.
John and Annie had a daughter they named Gertrude Florence PYWELL, she was born in Melbourne in 1898. Gertrude married Edward George WALKEDEN at Portarlington on 10 March 1920
