July 3:
Juju, Snowflake and Tys arrived in Detroit, Michigan and were picked up
at the airport by Debo, Sonnybuck and Sunflower. (Juju is Debo's
bestest friend, Tys is Debo's son, Snowflake is Juju's daughter)
With Sonnybuck as the tour guide, the group headed to downtown Detroit
where they drove through the tunnel that goes underneath the Belle River
and into Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Following the coastline, the group
of Texans were treated to a variety of sights including.........lotsa water
and trees!
Since the bunch had never been
on a ferry, they drove onboard and crossed back into the U.S. at Algonac.
Lesson #1.........when a man in uniform approaches you as you step onto
American turf, does NOT speak with a drawl.........and he asks you to "Gimme
some chips".......what he's actually asking is for you to declare your
citizenship!
July 4: Weather turns rainy and cold but fireworks are still on the agenda! Abasham arrives in his thongs (won't tell you if they were on his feet or on his hiney)........and begs for a pair of sweats! After unpacking the winter clothes, the group enjoyed watching the bursts of color and did lotsa yacking. Ab enjoyed himself so much he even spent the nite on the couch!!
July 5: Quick trip over the Blue Water Bridge to introduce Juju to vinegar fries and then it was time for the Ice Skating Extravaganza! Since the winter jackets were still out of the box, Juju and Debo captured Kodac Moments while Sunflower and Sonnybuck showed some country folks the ice. Afterwards - we learned that Abasham is quite a shopper and the Outlet Mall was invaded. Sonnybuck treated the group to grilled steaks in the evening and we did some tag-team chatting online. Uh oh........Redneck Rampage was discovered! Thus, the statement that was heard over and over and over......"Git off my lan!!!!!! .......evolved.
July 6: Juju was introduced to the infamous "Diana's" (more on that later) and given a little tour of the downtown Port Huron area. Later in the day.......Carol and Melody hit town and the rental car clerk learned that it is "Too hot to breed in Texas"!
July 7: Abasham headed to Detroit and brought Puff, Majick and Mate to town. Time for some down-home cooking! The group was introduced to cornbread salad, frog-eye salad and chicken tetrazini......with and without the chicken.
