SLIME MOLD LINKS

The Oregon State University Slime Mold Pages have moved and I can no longer find them. Darn them all to Perdition.

Inoculum, the newsletter of the Mycological Society of America.

The Ohio State University Slime Mold Page includes 2 black and white pictures on the page.

The University of Vermont Slime Mold Page has info, but no pictures. Bummer.

This is the Fort Valley State University Slime Mold Page, again no pictures
(what's with these folks?)

Steven L Stephenson and Harry Stempen wrote Myxomycetes : A Handbook of Slime Molds to aquaint us with "our friend the slime mold." Trust Amazon to have it readily available. They also carry several other books that are about, or touch on the subject of, Slime Molds. You can check out what's available by following the myxomycetes link at the bottom of the page.

This is what The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has to say on the subject of Mushrooms, Puffballs, Fairy Rings, and Slime Molds in Turfgrass.
Fascinating reading.
Really.

The Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development Slime Mold Page is light on information, but has a couple of good pictures.

The University of California Museum of Paleontology Slime Mold Page has information, links and a couple of the BEST pictures. One is of a Plasmodial Slime Mold (a large single cell blob thing with thousand of nuclei. Diploid nuclei at that. The other pic is a close up of a Sporangia. This would, I guess, be considered the 'fruit' of our friend the Slime Mold. They also have a link to a QuickTime movie of the slime mold. It says it's a large file, so I haven't yet checked it out.

These two Slime Mold articles from Science Magazine and The Alaska Science Forum manage to inform and entertain. Quite an accomplishment when writing of Slime Molds.
Kudo's to the authors.

And last, but certainly not least, the motherload of Mycological Resources on the Internet. The same people bring you a nice page of links to information aboutFungal Molecular Genetics.

This is but a small portion of the feast of Slime Mold information available on the internet. Do a quick search at Google, or Alta Vista, or any other search site and you will see a plethora of sites available for your perusal.
If you have any other interesting sites, please let me know - I'll be glad to add them, eventually.
