Here's the happy ending story of Chloe Marie:

I adopted Chloe, a Manchester Terrier about 2 years ago when she was about 4 years old. I lost my dog to old age, and it took a few years to find a replacement worthy enough to replace my memory of him. I was looking for a smaller dog and saw Chloe on TLC's website. The next day I drove to visit with her. She was totally impersonal and reserved, unfriendly and would not make eye contact, and seemed very protective of herself. Not at all the type of dog I was looking for, until a lady there said, "What a lucky dog she is to have you adopt her." Well, I was humbled into taking a chance on her. The TLC staff also told me she had been chewing at the tip of her tail and when I had her vetted, my vet indicated this is usually a sign of the beginning of physiological stress. She seemed to have been formerly abused, specifically by a male or males, and wouldn't let a man come within 10 feet of her without growling and cowering. This was going to be a real issue, one which with much patience, she overcame. With a lot of training, spoiling, and dog cookies, Chloe Marie is now a totally socialable, trustworthy dog. She has my brothers, husband, cousins and nieces and nephews who all adore her. She willingly greets everyone and loves to get hugs and kisses from everyone. She has come to know over the past two years... something which was once a big no-no, unless you were willing to get a nip from her. Now she relishes the attention and has come to really love the people in her life. I knew we had achieved a real breakthrough when she gave a 'kiss' to my husband and brother for the first time. She has become a total 'go for a ride' pooch, and I cannot go anywhere without taking her with me. Since the Manchester Terrier has an extremely short coat, Chloe has a better wardrobe than I do!! She has also made good friends with my sister-in-laws 3 cats, whom we see regularly. She also has a brother---my cat Frederick who she immediately was comfortable to be around. She has a Pug friend, Mattie, who recently had a weeklong sleepover while her 'parents' were out of town. All in all, I cannot imagine my household without Chloe.
