Here's the happy ending story of Lenny:

Dear Janine & friends,

Enclosed is the official "birth announcement" photo of Lenny. Have been reluctant to send photos out earlier as Lenny was very sick with heartworm and hookworms.

We had blood work done by our vet the day after Lenny was adopted and learned the bad news then. He went through all the treatments and the latest blood work came back negative, and we are so relieved. We had all bonded with him the first day - and he with us - so there was no question of turning him away. He deserved a chance at life, not a painful imminent death. The treatments weren't easy for him or for us but he's a strong little guy. All the medical problems made a dent in the inheritance fund - but at least he's not hurting.

Lenny is just a wonderful dog. He's a terrific watchdog and is very protective of his Mom & big brother Richard - he even is nice to Emily the cat, who predictably wants no part of him. Since I'm alone in the house now, it's important to have him around, and he seems to be aware of everything - if he hears a noise, he checks things out. Much like Billy, he's a little dog with a big, deep voice that gets noticed!

Even more importantly, he loves us and seems very happy in his new home. He can't replace Billy or any of my other dogs, but in his own way, he is a joy to us.

A little tweaking of his name was in order - kept the "Lenny" as it really does fit him, but added the middle name "Kravitz" just to make him cosmopolitan! Besides, Lenny Bruce just doesn't have the same cachet.

Thank you again for finding Lenny for us, and hope you'll pray for his future health, as we always do.

Love,

Joanne, Rich, Emily & Lenny K.
