REMEMBER: with every chance you buy, it is one more chance to help the animals at TLC!

Smokey Joe's Happy Ending
In December of 2002, our sons, Kyle and Drew, decided that they wanted to spend their birthday money to rescue a dog. We had been visiting the animals at TLC for quite a while (the kids love to bring treats for them), so we naturally went there. We needed to be careful who we brought home, because we had a nine-year old cockapoo, three birds and a little girl there. Our little men love animals, and wanted to bring home every dog we saw; but the right animal wasn't there yet. After months of waiting, a tired bunch stopped by the animal shelter just before closing on May 5, 2003. In the dog area, our boys spotted a shy little black dog called "Spooky." They asked if we could take him outside and meet him face to face. We relented, and the rest (as they say) is history.

On that Saturday, Smokey (as the kids renamed him) came home with us. He had passed the small child test with Mariah at TLC, but the real test would come when he met our much loved pooch, Luc (pronounced Luke). They became fast friends.

Smokey has become a very precious member of our family, and we wanted to be sure we thanked the staff at TLC who brought him to us. Without organizations like yours, dogs like Smokey and families like ours would never have the chance to meet. Thank you for helping to fulfill the birthday wishes of two boys, and for making our family complete!

Sincerely,

Mike, Carol, Kyle, Drew and Mariah (Jean Luc and Smokey Joe, too!)

We wish to give a special thanks to the following people:
Alison Andrews for turning her spa into a holiday wonderland of gifts to raise money for the animals at TLC. Maria Banich for rounding up a third of the prizes for this year's raffle from area merchants. The Endebak Family for the Chevrolet van they donated to the shelter, for transporting animals to the vets and for emergency pickups.

Sending Flowers to your Mom on Mother's Day?
Try Floral Alliance and you'll be helping the animals too! Your floral order can generate anywhere from a $5.00 to a $14.00 contribution to TLC. Next time you're sending flowers call Floral Alliance at 1-800-423-5803, and use TLC's code NP-1136 so the shelter receives the donation.

Thanks PETsMART Charities and Sandi O'Brien
Sandi O'Brien not only works hard keeping the Shelter's website current and interesting, Sandi has used her talents in many other ways to help TLC. We would like to commend Sandi for the diligence and hard work she put forth to procure a $4,500 grant for the shelter from PETsMART Charities! The terms of the PETsMART grant is that the money is to be used to fund medical care needed for shelter animals, and to enhance our website. We are very grateful to Sandi for obtaining this grant for us, and to PETsMART for their generous donation.
