BOOK  CONTENT   INFORMATION

CHAPTER ONE

      Chapter One deals with William McChesney, the early settler of Pennsylvania, and whom is believed to have been the father of Richard Chesney, whom left Pennsylvania and settled in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.  The locations are Dauphin, and York Counties in Pennsylvania.  Names of allied families are Fulton, Wilson, Wallace, and Bell.

CHAPTER TWO

      Chapter Two begins on page eleven, and documents the family of Richard and Jane Young Chesney, early Spartanburg County, south Carolina settlers.  It includes information about the Young family, also of York county, Pennsylvania, and the 96th District of South Carolina, and the suspected connection between them and Jane Young Chesney.

CHAPTER  THREE

      Chapter three begins on page 21, and documents the early history of John and Sarah Chesney, the early Grainger County, Tennessee settlers,  in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, and early Grainger County, Tennessee, including references to land documents in Spartanburg.  The issue of John having been a member of the Richard Chesney of Spartanburg County, South Carolina, and having not been a member of the Union County, South Carolina Chesney  family, as has been mistaken in the past,  is addressed also in this Chapter.

CHAPTER FOUR

      Chapter Four begins on page 25, and documents  the life of John Chesney  1794-1876, the early Settler of Grainger and Union Counties, Tennessee, and the patriarch of a large number of Tennessee Chesney families. Allied names are Skaggs and Lane.

CHAPTER FIVE

      Chapter Five begins on page 31, and documents the first two generations of John Chesney’s descendants.  Allied families are Haynes, Lambden, Woody, Torbet, Wallace, Kitts, Kelly, Sellers, Lett, Harless, Clapp, Sharp, and Needham.  Locations include mainly Grainger, Union, and Knox counties.

CHAPTER SIX

      Chapter six begins on page 45, and documents the third generation of John Chesney’s descendants. Allied names include Yadon, McCauley, Graves, Colvin, Gibbs, Tarver, Russell, Hankins, Miltonbarger, Willoughby, Powledge,  McClain, Bailey, Booker, Hamilton, Davis, Dodd, Rudolph, Wyneger, Popejoy, Crawley, and Hubbs. 

CHAPTER SEVEN

      Chapter seven begins on page 65, and documents the fourth generation of John Chesney’s descendants.  Allied names are Meltabarger, Hubbs, Loop, Cardwell, McPhetridge, Whited, Davis, Fisher, Roby, Hill, Booker, Zachary, Renfrow, Young, Hall, Blanton, Shaffer, Culpepper, Kirkpatrick, Maples, and Hansell.

CHAPTER EIGHT

      Chapter Eight begins on page 89, and documents the fifth generations of the descendants of John Chesney.  Allied names are Irwin, Weaver, Griffin, Johnson, Combee, Dove, Profitt, Doty, Dalton, Harris,  Thompson, Corbett, and Fleming.

CHAPTER NINE

      Chapter nine begins on page 97 and documents the 6th, 7th, and 8th generations of John Chesney’s descendants.  Allied names are Gallagher, Zugura,  Frankenburger, Crowley, Sassen, Mason, Sulentich, Dunne, Cherry, Campbell, Hodson, Meschter, Hudgens, Ziemer, Maciejewski, Barry, Levesque, Atkinson, Diaz, and Lopez.

CHAPTER TEN
