19. Captain John⁶ DENT (George⁵, Peter⁴, James³, William², Roger¹) was born in Gisborough, Yorkshire, ENG 1645.⁽³⁶⁸⁾

He married Mary HATCH ABT 1664.⁽³⁶⁹⁾ Mary was born 1647.⁽³⁷⁰⁾ Mary was the daughter of John HATCH and Anne SPINKE. Mary died 1726 at 79 years of age.⁽³⁷¹⁾

John immigrated, ABT 1658. Destination: MD.⁽³⁷²⁾ He made a will in Charles Co., MD, 25 SEP 1711.⁽³⁷³⁾ John's will was probated in Charles Co., MD, 5 MAY 1712.⁽³⁷⁴⁾ Capt. John Dent first settled in Charles Co., near Cool Springs, becoming well established as a planter by September 1666. He eventually resided in the northern portion of St. Mary's Co., near Charlotte Hall. In 1681, he was involved with Josiah Fendall, former Governor of the Province, and Capt. John Coode in their attempt to overthrow the rule of Lord Baltimore.

Captain John DENT and Mary HATCH had the following children:

30 v. Mary DENT was born 1684.⁽³⁷⁸⁾

31 vi. Lydia DENT was born 1686.⁽³⁷⁹⁾ She married Samuel TURNER.⁽³⁸⁰⁾

32 vii. Anne DENT was born 1688.⁽³⁸¹⁾ She married John CADLE.⁽³⁸²⁾

33 viii. Abigail DENT was born 1690.⁽³⁸³⁾

34 ix. Christiana DENT was born 1692.⁽³⁸⁴⁾ She married Thomas SUITE.⁽³⁸⁵⁾
