1. Ofthomarus1 LE KNEVET was born in Castle of Launceston, Cornwall, ENG 1042.
He married Emme DAMMARTIN in Launceston, Cornwall, ENG, 1065. Emme was born ABT 1030. Emme was the daughter of Nicholas DAMMARTIN. The name has a number of possible origins including the original form of DeKnivet and the fact that Othomarus was of Danish extraction. It is recorded in Camden's Britannica, that the castle of Launceston in Cornwall was taken by the Conqueror from Othomarus, then the Hereditary Constable, for being in arms against him, and given to Roger, Earl of Mortain, together with the Earldom of Cornwall, and from whom, these lands passed in to the possession of the Crown. Othomarus, his impetuosity punished by the loss of his lands, and causing his enemies a great deal of trouble, apparently felt justified in making the best he could for himself and married the daughter of one of the Norman invaders, Emma Dammartin.
