ANASTASIA McNAMARA


Anastasia McNamara was born on December 24, 1878. She was raised on a farm where the Burnsville High School is now located.

After attending school in District #15 she received her teaching certificate in 1901 and was employed by District #94 to teach grades one through eight. Some of her students were as old as she. Miss McNamara taught for many years in the Burnsville, Rosemount, and Mendota schools.

She married George M Kearney in 1911, and lived on a farm where the Neill School now stands. She was active in civic and church affairs until her death October 17. 1946.

TEACHER'S CONTRACT

This agreement made this ? day of ___________between school district ? in the county of Dakota and the State of Minnesota, by the Board of Trustees, at a meeting called for that purpose. ? and Anastasia McNamara a legally qualified teacher. WITNESS TO, That the saidAnastasia McNamara shall teach the school in said district for the term of 2 months, for the sum of Thirty dollars pr month, commencing on the 29 Day of ? . And the said Anastasia McNamara agrees faithfully to teach the said school according to the best of her ability, and to keep a register of the daily attendance of each pupil belonging to the school, and make such report of the school as is or may be required by law or by County Superintendent, or by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, and to observe and enforce all rules and regulations established by proper authority for the government and management of said school.

AND IT IS FURTHER AGREED BY AND BETWEEN THE PARTIES HERETO, That the said Anastasia McNamara shall use her best endeavors to preserve in good condition, the school house and premises connected with it, also the apparatus and furniture thereto belonging, and also all books and records provided by the School Board for the use of said school, and to deliver the same to the clerk of said district at the close of the said term of school in as good condition as when received, natural wear and tear excepted. The said school district hereby agrees to keep the school house and premises clean, in good repair and properly warned to provide suitable and sufficient fuel prepared for the fire, and to supply the following articles as described, for the school room:

The district also agrees to pay the said Anastasia McNamara for the above service the sum of sixty dollars in monthly payments of thirty dollars each.
