THE MINNESOTA STATE AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATIATION (AAA)
Symolizing one of the main services to their over one quarter million members in outstate Minnesota, "7 Travelers Trail" was chosen as the address of the Minnesota State Automobile Association (MSAA) when they beccame one of the first firms to locate in the area of Highway 13 and Nicollet Avenue in Burnsville.
Since the ground-breaking ceremonies on March 6, 1967, and their subsequent occupancy in September of 1967, the MSAA has expanded to employ 145 persons in their Burnsville office, many whom reside in Dakota County. Recent purchase of two acres adjacent to their present location will provide room for future expansion.
In cooperation with the local high schools, Minnesota AAA has also participated in the Office Education Program since 1968, employing over 60 high school students on a part-time basis. In addition, MSAA employs 100 full-time field representatives throughout Minnesota and 43 people in sic branch offices in Rochester, Mankato, Winona, St. Cloud and Moorhead.
Through these seven offices and two additional mobile units, the MSAA provides many services to both their own members and the general public. Here AAA can obtain auto travel counseling and custom routings, emergency road service, and automobile and accident/health insurance. Under the ‘dome" are two additional services available to members and the general public alike: the automobile and drivers' license department and the World Travel Department--offering everything from airline tickets to group tours to individual custom-travel arrangements around the globe.
The AAA building also houses offices of the MINNESOTA AAA MOTORIST magazine, the MSAA legislative counsel, a data processing computer center that services the Minnesota AAA as well as other AAA clubs and the Traffic Safety Department which currently helps support the Burnsville School Safety Patrols.
