FAVOURITE CAT BOOKS

These are some of my favourite books with cats as the main charaters. I really enjoy leaving the real world behind and seeing how others imagine the secret world of cats to be. I hope you will check them out and enjoy them too.

ANNOUCING A GREAT NEW SERIES OF CAT CHARACTERS BOOKS

THE WARRIOR SERIES. by Erin Hunter (U.K.) HarperCollins Yes they are written for I think Tweens but myself almost 50 and a friend who is mid 30 are enjoying this series great. It takes place in Britian and follows the lives of some feral cats who live in "Clans".

Starting the first book of the first series of six is Rusty the "kitty pet" who longs for live in the wild. Truly amazing writing and definalty not written "down" to the young reader.

My best guess as someone who has not read Harry Potter but seen the movies, is that is in the same vein, great story line, with realistic imagery. There are highs and lows and scary moments and times that make you cry.

My friend and I are not in the second series of the Warriers called: The New Prophecy" If you liked Tailchasers Song you will love these books.

Follow the link to the authors web info site and learn about "The Clans" and their cats.

<Warrior Series .

TailChasers Song by Tad Williams...this one is a classic. Its is about the adventures of Fritti TailChaser in a quest to rescue his catfriend Hushpad. Its kind of a Watership Downs in cat version. An exciting read and adventure into a special cat world that humans have no part in.

The Wild Road and the sequel The Golden Cat by Gabriel King. Gabriel King is a British Author who has penned a dark world of danger and heroics. The main cat in the book is named Tag who is “stolen from his home to join a mysterious quest. Once tame, he must navigate the wild roads, the animal highways which binds the animal and human world”. There are many friends who help him along the way a wise old cat named Majicou, a fox called “Loves A Dustbin and Cy and tabby with a “sparkplug” in her head. This book has to do with the evil of human experimenting on our fellow creatures and the bravery and friendships that happen along the way.

Summon The Keeper and The Second Summoning by Tanya Huff One of my favourite Canadian authors these books are fill with fun and the adventures of Claire Hansen who is a Keeper, a member of a very select group which keeps the universe in one piece and her cat Austin. In the first book she is summoned to take over an old Guesthouse which attracts the most unusual guest and finds that there is a leak of evil into our world which she must repair. Along the way she meets hunky handyman Dean who she feels she needs to “protect” because he is just a human.

In the second book Claire’s younger sister Diana, a Keeper in training, along with Dean the hunky handyman from the Guesthouse are trying to save the universe again of course with the help of Austin her cat. This time there is a devil and angel who have manifested in the mortal world and don’t have a clue how to handle their human bodies. Both these books are filled with lots of fun and spice and wit as only a cat can provide.

If you are into Vampire books she also has a wonderful series called the Victory Nelson Investigator with a vampire named Henry Fitzroy who is a writer and the bastard son of Henry VIII.. There are five books in the series called: Blood Price, Blood Trail, Blood Lines, Blood Pact and Blood Debt.

The Catfantastic series edited by Andre Norton and Martin H. Greenburg So far there are books I thought V. These are all fantasy and Science Fiction short stories from the “cat’s -eye view”. The back cover sums up all of this series “Let some of today’s finest tale-spinners from Andre Norton .....to Barry Longyear lead you along trails only the cleverest of cats could find or follow, pathways to realms only reachable with the aid of our fearless four-footed comrades.”
A Constellation of Cats edited by Denise Little 13 original tales of fascinating felines and their humans.

Ghattens Gambit book 1 Sunderlies Seeking and book 2 The Farthest Seeking by Gayle Green This is the second of a series of books by Gayle Greeno that tell the tale of Resonants and Seekers some whom share their lives Ghatten, who are a cat like creatures and form a mind bond with one human. These two books are full of adventure as two young humans and two young Gattens form their bonds during danger and intrigue. I must really get my hands on Gayle Greeno’s first books in this series The Ghatti’s tale that explains the beings of this human Ghatten bond. I have been know to often start books in the middle of series and these ones are readable one without the others, they are stand alones. These ones are called: Finders-Seekers, Mindspeakers’ Call and Exiles’ Return.

Mrs. Murphy Mysteries by Sneaky Pie Brown and Rita Mae Brown Recently I have been introduced to my first mystery author that is a cat.. I have just finished reading every book by Sneaky Pie Brown and her human co author Rita Mae Brown. They are co writers of the Mrs Murphy Mysteries featuring Mrs Murphy the grey tiger kitty and her friends the chubby grey feline Pewter and the dear sweet Welsh Corgi Tee Tucker. These females help their human “mom” Harry aka Mary Minor Harristeen solve the mysteries that take place in Crozet, Virginia. The cats and dog in these books are smart and sassy and I have greatly enjoyed all of her books. What I also like about Sneaky Pie’s books are you get a list of character and some lovely drawings of our heros. Which is why I am falling in love with Corgi’s :-) There are many books in this series you don’t have to start at the beginning but I think you should so that you can keep the main citizen of Crozet in the right time frame but its not necessary to enjoy these books and your are reading this from a person who didn’t like to read mysteries. Book list as they were released: Wish You Were Here Rest in Pieces Murder at Monticello Pay Dirt Murder, She Meowed Murder on the Prowl Cats on the Scent Pawing Thought The Past Claws and Effect Catch as Cat Can

Joe Grey Mysteries by Shirley Rousseau Murphy I have recently started to read Joe Grey Mysteries..see what happens when your friends share their books with you ;-), and am really enjoying them. In these books Joe Grey and his companion Dulcie are not just cats who help solve mysteries they actually speak to their humans. I have only just started with the Joe Grey’s so I will keep you posted on how I am enjoying them. I hope to try and keep this page up dated with more books that have cats as main character for those like myself that enjoy reading them.
