George Hooper & Elizabeth Clift


George HOOPER was chr Oct 15 1758 in Jacobstow Cornwall England,
the son of George HOOPER and Rachel WELLS
who were married on Nov 5 1755 in Jacobstow.

Elizabeth CLIFT was chr Aug 12 1759 in Marhamchurch Cornwall,
the daughter of John CLIFT and Joan.

George & Elizabeth had 7 children:
1) Elizabeth chr Apr 16 1787 in Jacobstow,
married Humphry GRIGG on Mar 25 1811 in Jacobstow (8 children)
Most of Elizabeth & Humphrey's children emigrated to Australia from Cornwall.

2) Anne chr May 13 1787 in Marhamchurch / died Mar 26 1854 in Jacobstow

3) *Thomas chr Oct 5 1788 in Marhamchurch,
married Anne UGLOW on Aug 16 1826 in Jacobstow (9 children)
Anne was the daughter of Edward UGLOW & Margery HOSKYN.

4) Mary chr Mar 2 1790 in Marhamchurch

5) Rachel chr Jan 1st 1792 in Jacobstow

6 ) John chr Aug 11 1793 in Jacobstow,
married Jenny FERRET on Mar 17 1818 in Jacobstow (5 children)
Jenny was the daughter of Richard FERRET & Sarah FOLLY
Jenny died Oct 15 1839 in Jacobstow and John later emigrated to the USA,
dying in Palmyra Wisconsin on Mar 8 1867.

7) George chr Jul 31 1796 in Jacobstow,
married 1st to Hannah BAKER on Mar 18 1824 in Jacobstow (7 children)
Hannah was the daughter of John BAKER & Elizabeth REED.
Hannah died Jan 24 1844 in Jacobstow.

George married 2nd to Catherine ELSON on Jan 28 1847 in Jacobstow.
At some point George emigrated to the USA,
probably along with his brother John and family,
because he died in Palmyra Wisconsin on Aug 2 1859.



Elizabeth CLIFT was buried on Mar 5 1841 in Jacobstow.

George HOOPER died just a few years later in 1844.

George HOOPER & Elizabeth CLIFT were Ed's 4X GR grandparents.
