Noah Thomason & Mary Haddock

My GR grandfather, Noah THOMASON,
was born Dec 8 1882 in Atherton, Leigh, Lancashire
according to the information on his death certificate.

He was the 2nd of 8 children of John THOMASON & Esther TICHBORNE,
who had married Aug 12 1878
in the Congregational Church
in Pennington near Leigh Lancashire.

My GR grandmother, Mary HADDOCK, known to most as "Polly",
was born May 30 1886 in the Union Workhouse in Atherton Lancashire.

She was the daughter of Alfred HADDOCK & Martha DICKINSON

At the time of their marriage,
Noah and Mary were living right NEXT DOOR to each other!
Noah was living at 154 Mealhouse Lane while Mary was living at 156 Mealhouse Lane :-)

On Sep 20 1919,
Mary Haddock THOMASON signed her name
and applied for a copy of a birth certificate on Ada's behalf
so that Ada could go to work at age 13
according to the rules of the Factory and Workshop Act, 1901.

At this time in 1919, the family were still living at 14 Lester's Row, Astley.

sailed on to Canada ....

According to Noah's death certificate,
he emigrated to Canada
sometime in 1920.

From the time of his arrival in the area of Michel BC,
Noah worked as a labourer in the mining industry until about 1945.

Noah & Mary moved to Vancouver BC about 1946
where they spent their retirement years living at 2809 West 15th Avenue
in a wonderful old house that is probably still standing :-)
