Some Whaley Notes
THOMAS WHALEY, II,
was the oldest surviving son and child of Agrippa
and Mary Johnson Whaley. He was a silversmith by
trade and lived in Gwinnett and DeKalb Counties, Georgia. He
married: (1) Jane Hollingsworth, 6 Dec.
1849 in DeKalb County, and (2)
Samantha P. Brown, 29 April 1884 in Gwinnett Co. Thomas's first
wife bore him seven surviving children.
His second wife bore him two
surviving children. She died as a complication of childbirth
about 1888. The child, Thomas III, also
died. Thomas was despondent and
drowned in the Yellow River. He left his boots and glasses on
the river bank. This was about the year
1889.
SAMUEL WHALEY
had a mill on Marbury Creek, near Bethlehem, Georgia. He and his family
lated moved to Murray Co., Georgia.
