What Is Disappointment?
by Barbara Philbrook

What is disappointment other than another chance,
an opportunity to change your circumstance.

A time allotted to make life better in some way.
A chance to make up for the past one might say.

A chance to compensate for something done to another,
or even better, to become a Christian brother.

Disappointment is when we regret a decision,
or when we've realized we've acted with derision.

It's when our eyes are opened and what we see,
is that we haven't acted responsibly.

Disappointment is the feeling we get inside,
when our actions bring sadness instead of pride.

Disappointment is what allows us to try once more,
and this time to reap the happiness that hope has in store.

Hope eases disappointment and sends it away,
and gives us a reason for awakening each new day.
