excerpt from The Veil Standard

When Baby Miriam went to her new home recently she left a string of broken hearts among the nurses, and she indeed was a heart breaker.
______
Phyllis and Beverly Ann are prize babies, and I sincerely wish a little girl like them were available for all the suitable, high class applicants on our waiting list.
______
While the finding of suitable homes by the Veil neccessitates careful and painstaking study of the different phases of this work, decidedly satisfactory placements have resulted.
______
The Veil was founded and for more then 30 years has been conducted with ethical success by handling the cases in a manner that will harm no one and benefit everyone concerned. It saves the mother and her family from social blight and gives the child the best possible start in life, a start free from taint of any form, its future as bright as that of the legitimately born child.
______

Most of the Veil babies are placed in Protestant homes. However, our institution being nonsectarian, we do receive a goodly percentage of Catholic applications. This is gratifying because there are always Catholic patients among those in waiting. The number of applications from couples of Jewish faith has for years exceeded the number of Jewish babies in the Veil nursery for placement. For more then a year now it has been impossible to keep anything like pace with the demand for Veil babies.
