Double-Frosted Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
recipe courtesy of Betty Crocker Easy Holiday Recipes, Menus & Ideas, December 1997

      Ingredients
10 oz. vanilla milk (white) chips
      4 tsp. shortening, separated
      30 Oreo sandwich cookies
      10 oz. mint-chocolate chips

Line cookie sheet with waxed paper. Place vanilla milk chips and 2 teaspoons of the shortening in microwaveable bowl. Microwave uncovered on medium (50%) 4 to 5 minutes or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Don't be tempted to speed things along by melting the chips on the High (100%) setting of your microwave oven - the chips may scorch and have to be thrown out. Dip 15 of the cookies, one at a time into the vanilla mixture; place on cookie sheet. Refrigerate 5 to 10 minutes or until coating is set.

Place chocolate chips and remaining 2 teaspoons shortening in microwavable bowl. Microwave uncovered on Medium (50%) 4 to 5 minutes or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Dip remaining 15 cookies into chocolate mixture; place on cookie sheet. Refrigerate 5 to 10 minutes or until coating is set.

Drizzle (star and tree shapes are particularly festive for christmas) remaining chocolate mixture (reheat if mixture has hardened) over tops of vanilla-coated cookies; let stand until set.
