* WASHING PANTYHOSE - place in pillowcase and tie top to
   avoid lint clinging!! And on the other hand - throw a
   pair or two of old pantyhose into dryer to draw lint to
   them and not clothes!
 

* COLOURFAST - add a cup of salt to wash load to keep
  colours from fading!
 

* LINEN CLOSET HELP - bed sheet sets can be folded and
  stored in one of the matching pillowcases to keep them all
  together and tidy!
 

* STICKY ZIPPER - run a lead pencil or soap over the teeth!
 

* RUN STARTING IN PANTYHOSE? dab with clear nail polish or   spray on hairspray!
 

* SALT STAINS on BOOTS - sponge with half and half mixture   of water and vinegar!
 
 

"STAINS"

 

INK :  1. put rubbing alcohol on spot before washing  OR
        2. Rub toothpaste on stain before washing       OR
        3. Soak in milk and wash                                OR
        4. Spray with hairspray and rub with a clen cloth!
 

BLOOD :  1. Soak in cold water then try rubbing with soap
                 and water                       OR
              2. soak in cold water then try rubbing out with
                 hydrogen peroxide and and soap      OR
             3. Soak in cold water - sprinkle with meat
                tenderizer - let set - then wash.
 

CHOCOLATE :  Soak 1/2 hour in cold water - while wet rub
                    liquid detergent into spot. Wash. If white
                    garment - dab with bleach!
 
 

COFFEE AND TEA :  If you get it right away - soap and water                            should work fine!!
                           If not soak in cold water and rinse out
                           with vinegar!
 

FRUIT JUICES:  (same as chocolate)
 

GREASE OR OIL:  sprinkle with cornstarch - rub well - let sit
                       to absorb. Bruch off excess wipe with a
                       damp cloth. Wash!
 

ON SUEDE?:  Dab with cloth dipped in club soda or vinegar
                  use suede brush to restore!
 

GUM:  1. Freeze garment or place ice behind gum until it
             freezes. Scrape off.                             OR
         2. Loosen by soaking in white vinegar.
 

KETCHUP/TOMATO SAUCE: Dab off excess and soak in
              cold water for 1/2 hour. Rub liquid laundry
              detergent into stain. Wash!
 

LIPSTICK: 1. Use prewash spray or rubbing alcohol and
                 blot with cloth or paper towel             OR
             2. Soak in milk 30 minutes and then wash in
                warm, soapy water                             BUT
             * If on hubby's shirt collar and its not your
               shade - Use baseball bat while he's still
               wearing it!!
 

MILDEW: Make a paste of white vinegar and baking soda
             or lemon juice and salt and rub into soiled area
             (can set in sun also to help kill mildew) Wash!
 

NAIL POLISH: Scrape off excess immediately, careful not
                   to spread. Blot with nail polish remover
                   until spot is gone. Wash!
 

PERSPERATION: 1. Soak in 1/2 cup vinegar with 1 1/2
                         cup water. Wash.                    OR
                      2. Soak in 1 litre of water with a handful
                         of salt. Wash.
 

RED WINE:  Sprinkle lots of salt on it as soon as possible
                Dip stain in cold water and rub. Wash. Or
                carefully pour boiling water on garment.
 

SOFT DRINKS: Pour boiling water through then wash!
 

WAX: Place area between brown bags - using warm iron
        press until absorbed. If still there use prewash
        detergent.
