My Favorite Teacher

My favorite teacher really isn't a teacher at all. He was my captain in the Army. When I first got out to Ft. Lewis I was beside myself wanting to go back home. Well there was no way I could get out after signing my name on the dotted line. I had alot to learn about how to deal with being on my own and how things would be for me for the next 3 years.
Cpt. Andrews was his name. He kinda took me under his wing. I went into the the army and was supposed to be a cook. But I got the chance to be one of his secretaries instead. I jumped at it. Whenever I had a hard time he was the one I turned to. He was always there for me no matter what. When it came time to go out to the field he had me trained to drive his jeep. That was no small feat! I knew how to drive a stick shift, but these were so different. That is how I met Ron. He taught me! Anyway we would go out in the field and he always had to come back in for meetings and such so I would get to come back and take a shower everyday. One time we were out there and he said come on and let's go for a fun ride. Well I had never used 4-wheel drive before and I sure learned fast. We had the best time together. His wife was like a girlfriend to me too. I didn't see her much but she was great to me. Cpt. Andrews helped me with so much and got me to do things I would have never done, like trying out to be the driver for a major who I loved driving for in the end. We still keep in touch to this day. I will never forget him and how wonderful he was to me. It was very hard to leave him when my time was up. But I hope someday we will get together again.
