"A truly great book should be read in youth, again in maturity and once more in old age, as a fine building should be seen by morning light, at noon, and by moonlight." - Robertson Davies
"A well-composed book is a magic carpet on which we are wafted to a world that we cannot enter in any other way" - Caroline Gordon
Here are several of the books I have particularly enjoyed. Thanks for looking!
The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. This is one of my all-time favorites. Milo, an average, bored child, find himself becoming very interested indeed in the strange place in which he finds himself after receiving a very strange tollbooth. It contains a good bit of nonsense, which really makes very good sense after all.
Phantom Tollbooth
The Little Prince by Antoine De Saint-Exupery. A thought-provoking story from the point of view of what appears to be a very mature young child. Very worth taking the little time it will take to read this little book.
Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson has been one of my favorites since I was a very small child. The idea of being able to create your own reality is one that truly gives the imagination some fuel =) I've often wished there were more, and guess what! There are!! Harold's Fairy Tale : Further Adventures With the Purple Crayon; Harold's ABC; Harold's Circus; Harold's Trip to the Sky; A Picture for Harold's Room
More to come!
