This indenture made and entered into this 22 day of January 1831, between JOHN NICHOLS Sen. of the County of Barren and State of Ky. of the one part and WILLIAM PURSLEY, JOHN NICHOLS JR., ELIAS NICHOLS, PHILLIP NICHOLS,the heirs of RICHARD NICHOLS decd., THOMAS NICHOLS, ROBERT B. BURCH, JOHN BURCH, NICHODEMUS BURCH, WILLIAM T. BAILEY, WILLIAM JOHNS, JOHN SCOTT, FRANCIS SCOTT and JAMES WOOD, of the other part and of the County and state aforesaid. Witnesseth: that the said JOHN NICHOLS SEN. for and in consideration of building of a certain meeting house known by the name of Mount Vernon on said Nichols land which is acknowledged to be done, hath this day granted to the aforesaid WILLIAM PURSLEY and others the same right and title in common with himself to a certain tract or parcel of land containing one acre whereon the said meeting house stands to be laid off in a four-square so the said meeting house will be in the centre and further it is to be considered that the said meeting house is to be free for all gospel preachers, of every denomination, and that no one society is to interfere with the appointed days of any other; the right of said land to extend to the aforesaid WILLIAM PURSLEY and others and to their heirs and to my heirs, to have and to hold the same from all other claim or claims forever.
