A BILL FOR AN ACT

Relating to driver licenses.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:

SECTION 1. { + Section 2 of this 1999 Act is added to and made a part of ORS chapter 807. + }

SECTION 2. { + When the Department of Transportation reinstates driving privileges for a person who has been convicted of driving while under the influence of intoxicants in violation of ORS 813.010, the department shall issue the person a driver license that has a red stripe on it. If the convicted person was involved in a motor vehicle accident at the time of the offense and the accident involved injury or death, the stripe shall remain on the person's driver license for a period of 10 years. Otherwise, the stripe shall remain for a period of two years. + }

SECTION 3. { + Section 2 of this 1999 Act applies to persons convicted of driving while under the influence of intoxicants on or after the effective date of this 1999 Act. + }
