Notes for Thomas Jefferson LEISTER
It is believed that this is the same person mentioned by Dr. Howard in
his book Dark Corner Heritage; however, some believe that Dr. Howard
mistakenly identified him as Dr. Simon Lister's brother, rather than as a
nephew, as he actually was. About 1835, he married Sallie Johnson and
they had at least two children. They also removed to North Carolina. If
this Thomas Jefferson Lister is indeed the one referred to by Dr. Howard,
then he was medical doctor and practiced in Henderson County, N. C. He
helped start Shaw's Creek campground and after his death, in 1874, he was
buried there on the campground.
