Mary was probably the neice of Elisha Battle Sr. as he (or Elisha Jr.)
and sons Jethro and Dempsey Battle witnessed William Taylor's will. We
find that in 1741 Thomas and MaryThorn sold Northampton land to William
Battle amd Mary's brother, Joshua Lee, sold "Bertie Co." land to Willam
Battle. It seems probably that William II and John II Battle were
brothers and Mary Battle and Elisha Battle were descended from the
brothers. The land Joshua Lee sold had at one time been granted to John
Lee, his grandfather.
