Check out this neat site for more information about coyotes.

Coyotes are related to dogs and wolves and live mainly in North America. They live on birds, rats, mice as well as small birds and large insects. When they are hunting, they can run very fast, sometimes up to forty miles an hour.

Some people, usually farmers raising sheep or other small animals, feel the coyote should be destroyed. But, other people feel the coyote does a good job keeping the number of rats and other pests from getting too large.

The howling of a coyote can sound scary and many people are afraid of them. But, usually, they are not a threat to people, although any animal can be dangerous if cornered, frightened or sick.
