The llama lives in South
America. The people of South America tamed them thousands of years ago and used them in
several ways. Llamas can be used to carry things. A llama can carry up to two hundred
pounds for twelve hours.
The female is often used for food, and for her milk. The long hair on
their bodies is used to make ropes or fabric like sweaters and blankets.
Llamas are often white, but can also be black or brown and white.
