First Generation

1. John L. STEVENS was born 28 Sep 1762. He died 1848. John married Nancy Agnes WHITFORD. Nancy was born in Maryland. John and Mary settled at the head of Booth's Creek, Monongalia County, West Virginia, before 1805. He was a farmer, teacher and a shoemaker. His feet were frozen while he was hunting and they had to be partially amputated.

They had the following children:

Eleanor STEVENS was born 6 Jul 1781. Eleanor married Thomas WEST on 27 Jun 1801.
