FLAT STANLEY VISITS THE POCONO MOUNTAINS!

Flat Stanley is a friend of Jacob's. He came to us from Ms. Brumett's class at the Hallsville Elementary School in Hallsville, Texas, arriving on Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, just in time to celebrate the long weekend.

Flat Stanley will stay with us a little while, to enjoy the sites and sounds of the beautiful Pocono Mountains, and then we'll put him back in his envelope, with some souveniers and send him back to his friend, Jacob.

Flat Stanley came here to learn about our state and city, to see what the weather is like here, and to see some of our special places. When he gets back home, he'll tell all the boys and girls in Ms. Brumett's class, all about his adventures.

Pennsylvania is not a state at all! It's a commonwealth! We live in the northeast part of Pennsylvania, near Hawley, Pennsylvania, but out in the country. You can see live photos of our area at "The Pocono Mountain Weather and Wildlife Cam, located at approximately 1550 feet above sea level, in Dingman Township, Pike County, PA. You'll see an occasional view of the deer, wild turkey and other wildlife that wander by, includine (once) a North American Black Bear! Click Here

Perhaps you would like to "copy" Stanley's picture, and show him around your home state. You can post his adventures with you here [send to my email at joanfran@ptd.net], or you can mail him back when his visit with you is over; mail Flat Stanley, to:

Jacob c/o Sandy Brumett Hallsville Elementary 2 Box 810 Willow St. Hallsville, TX 75650.

I wonder if Jacob's class has a computer that reads CDs?

Come back often to see where Flat Stanley has been ......

Flat Stanley and Liz, waiting for a table for lunch at The Olive Garden, Middletown, Orange Co., NY, on Saturday, January 26, 2002. They had a great lunch at Liz's favorite restaurant! Afterwards, Liz went off to Hunter Mountain in the Catskills to go skiing, and Flat Stanley headed back to the Poconos. Liz, my granddaughter is ten years old, she'll be eleven in August.
