Mattie died on Waitangi Day, 2001. She was my first whippet and the dearest to my heart. She died of a sudden heart attack doing the thing she loved most: running fast through the long grass in the back paddocks after rabbits on a sunny day.

Mattie's two daughters are BOTH SHOW CHAMPIONS.

A beautifully Irish-marked red fawn, Mattie stood at exactly 18 inches at the shoulder. Outgoing and very friendly, Mattie had a star-studded show career, beginning as a baby, with many in-show awards.
