John Baldridge, Company A

John Baldridge was born on 6 December, 1820, in Russell County, Virginia, and died on 8 January, 1901, in Floyd County, Kentucky. John was the son of William Baldridge, Jr., from Rutherford County, North Carolina, and Hannah Estep of Russell County, Virginia. John Baldridge served with his brother, Thomas Baldridge, in the 39th.

John Baldridge enrolled in Company A of the 39th Kentucky on October 11th, 1862; mustered-in at Peach Orchard with the regiment on February 16th, 1863; and mustered-out with the regiment at Louisville, Kentucky, on September 15th, 1865. John was, "Sentenced to thirty days' hard labor on fortifications for absence without leave." John drew a pension as a resident of the Middle Creek Precinct of Floyd County, Kentucky, stating that he had broken his shoulder during his service.
