This is a copy of the 1880's muster card recording Andrew Baker's desertion (for the second time) from the 39th Kentucky in September 1864. This occurred not long after the alleged Battle of Louisa. His brother-in-law, Hiram Justus, a "galvanized" Yankee, deserted from the same location not long before and joined Rebel Bill Smith's battalion. It is likely that Andy and Hiram had encountered each other in camp at Louisa between June and August of 1864. Note the value and type of gun Andy took with him.
