Marie Claire Boudreau was born March 10, 1817 in L'Acadie, St. Jean, PQ, Canada. She married Edouard Joseph Alexandre on November 15, 1836 in the same town. They moved to America in the 1850's with two children. Their first stop was at Bourbonnais, Illinois, known as "Le Petit Canada" (Little Canada). They then moved to Altorf, where Edouard's father died. They finally settled in Otto Township, section 33 where they bought 120 acres in 1867 from Stephen Ames for $1500.00.
Marie Claire was the mother of thirteen children. She died in 1908 in Irwin, Illinois.
Edward Alexandre was born in Canada on August 16, 1817. He married Clara Boudreau (b. ?; d. 1908 in Irwin). He came to America in the 1850's with his wife and two children. His first stop was at Bourbonnais, Illinois, known as " Le Petit Canada" (Little Canada). [At least one other family name from the French Canadian side of our family history turn up in the short list of family names in Le Petit Canada, BROSSEAU.] Edward then moved to Altorf, where his father died. While Edward lived in Altorf, he worked all his land with a team of oxen. He finally settled in Otto Township, section 33 where he bought 120 acres in 1867 from Stephen Ames for $1500.00.
Edward was the father of thirteen children. He died December 10, 1893 and is buried in St. James cemetery, Irwin.
Edouard was the first "Alexander" in our family tree to move from Canada to the United States. He evidently later changed the spelling of his given name to Edward, for so he was known.
