Lelah James Hart was born July 3, 1911 in Harrison Township, Mercer County, Missouri. She married on August 3, 1930 to Kelly Walton Hughes (born June 16. 1906 in Mercer County, Missouri and died May 11, 1996 in Gower, Missouri).
Lelah was the mother of 3 children, and for 50 years a member of Cainsville Assembly of God Church. She was buried alongside Kelly beneath a shared tombstone in St. Paul's cemetery, near Cainsville, Missouri.
