William Morgan Hart was born May 5,1804 in Cumberland River and Patterson Creek, Knox County, Kentucky and died October 17, 1876 in Harrison Township, Mercer Country, Missouri. He married 1st April 8, 1828 (Whitley County, Kentucky) to Elizabeth Hart (born January 7, 1807 Knox County, Kentucky and died 1838 in Putnam County, Illinois). He married 2nd. on November 13, 1838 in Putnam County, Illinois to Rebecca Hart (born December 25, 1816 in Prathers Creek, Ashe County, North Carolina and died March 21, 1891 in Harrison Township, Mercer County, Missouri). She and William Morgan are buried in the Hart Family Cemetery, Harrison Township, Mercer County, Missouri. Elizabeth and Rebecca were sisters, and they were first cousins to their husband. They were daughters of Peter Hart and Hannah Poe.
William was the father of 12 children; 4 by Elizabeth and 8 by Rebecca.
