Subject: Is there any way. . . . . . . [Dutchess County Historian]

Dear  Patrick, "Pat",

Re: County Historian

As my current Dutchess County Legislator, is there any way to find out the
identity of the individuals comprising the "advisory work group" mentioned
in the County Executive's 2006 Budget Message????

"we have asked a number of community residents to participate as an advisory
work group to assist and guide the strategic planning for the office"

I truly hope our County Executive has chosen individuals knowledgeable in
the field and not just a group of his partisan friends.  The County
Historian position is far too important to all of us and future generations
to fall prey to politics.

In my opinion, among those chosen for the County Executive's "Advisory Work
Group" should  be those individuals who would make up, if it existed as
required by current law, the Dutchess County Records  Advisory Board, and
not just a representative(s) of  Dutchess County Tourism People, if any.

Dutchess County Records Management Law - #3 of 1986 Section 3:

(A)  The BOARD shall consist of the County CLERK, the County HISTORIAN,  a
representative of the COUNTY LEGISLATURE selected by the CHAIRMAN of the
LEGISLATURE, the Commissioner of COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS, the President of the County HISTORICAL SOCIETY, or his designee, the President of the
Dutchess County MUNICIPAL HISTORIANS ASSOCIATION, or his designee, the
President of the GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY, or his designee, and a DUTCHESS
COUNTY ARCHIVIST to be selected by the County HISTORIAN.

As of today, we are at T-57 days and Counting!
Will the County Executive keep his word and submit to the County Legislature
his nominee for the the position THIS YEAR?

Please do whatever you can to insure that this year the Legislature sends a
positive message to the County Executive during the 2006 Budget Process by
approving, or even adding to, his funding plan for the Dept. of History and
the Office of County Historian.
