Dear County Executive Steinhaus - countyexec@co.dutchess.ny.us  ,

Once again I write to inquire as to the status of your presenting an individual to fill the position of County Historian to the County Legislature for approval.

To the best of my knowledge, we are now once again in the proposed budget process.  This time for the year 2006 and it appears this county is still minus one department head who could and should provide valuable and necessary input for the budget process as it pertains to the Department of History. The County Historian position remains VACANT.

Would you be so kind as to inform me as to the status of the County Historian Position?

Your constituents and many others with interest in Dutchess County History are depending on you to fill this position THIS YEAR as promised in your 2005 State of the County Address!

In your 2005 State of the County Address you said,

"As a final lift to the spirits of local historians and others passionate about history, I am so pleased THIS YEAR to be able to take a step to connect our past, our present and our future. Even before the creation of the United States, Dutchess County played a vital role in our nation's history."

In Your 2005 Budget Message you said,

"The 2005 includes resources for the long vacant position of County Historian to insure that Dutchess County's rich heritage is recorded, preserved and accessible to residents." Please take the opportunity now to show that your Actions speak as loud as your Words.

Thank you in advance for providing the current status of this position and for your service to our County. I look forward to your reply.
