Fall Creek Falls State Park, 2009

These pictures were taken in Tennessee's Fall Creek Falls State Park on a short day trip in August, 2009.

CANE CREEK RAVINE

1.This is the Cane Creek gorge near the Nature Center.

CANE CREEK FALLS

2. It was hard to get a good look at these falls from the overlook near the Nature Center.

THE CASCADES

3. Kids and adults alike frolic and sun below the Cascade Falls.

CANE CREEK

4. Looking upstream above the Cascades below the swinging bridge.

THE SWINGING BRIDGE

5. The swinging bridge crosses Cane Creek immediately above the cascades. It is a little daunting to begin with but the trail on the other side leads to the top of Fall Creek Falls.

SUNNING BELOW THE CASCADES

6. This picture was taken from the middle of the swinging bridge looking down into the gorge below the cascades.

THE FALL CREEK FALLS

7. It was a 1.1 mile hike up and down ridges to get to the overlook of The Fall Creek Falls. There is another trail down to the bottom of the falls. One can drive to a point very near this overlook.

TOP OF THE FALL CREEK FALLS

8. This is the top of the Fall Creek Falls. I would like to revisit in the winter to see the falls and the gorge cased in ice.

SMALL STREAM

9. This is a small streem we crossed on the trail between the swinging bridge and Fall Creek Falls. I was interested in the rust color on the rocks and wonder if this is a sign of iron ore.
