Time beginning: 2:35 p.m.
Time ending: 4:30 p.m.
*Reviewed previous meeting’s discussion of theme and assembly timeline
*Distributed and edited committee members’ phone numbers, mailing and e-mail addresses
*Decided that the “umbrella” theme of the assembly would be “Celebrating God’s Love – A Walk in the Light”
*Discussed graphic to be used in advertising, identification of attendees, etc. and settled on a simple graphic of a sun rising above the horizon of the northern border of Arkansas, with footpaths leading from various parts of the state to Mountain Home
*Through voting, brainstorming, reading scripture, and process of elimination, decided the themes for the assembly and the worship services:
Theme 1 John 1:7 – “…walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship
with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us all from sin.”
1st service Genesis 1:3, 4 – “And God said, ‘Let there be light’ and there was light.
God saw the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.”
2nd service Psalm 119, Verse 105 – “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for
my path.”
3rd service Ephesians 5:8, 10 – “For you were once in darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light and find out what pleases the Lord.”
*A special service for the youth was suggested; Loy Hoskins volunteered to coordinate the service, with the following scriptures as basis:
Matthew 5: 14-16 – “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
Luke 11:33 – “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in may see the light.”
*A list of names of suggested speakers to deliver the sermons was discussed and voted on. Invitations will be issued as follows:
1st service Lee Nirschl
2nd service Barbara Jones
3rd service Alvin Jackson
*A committee chair meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, 10 November 1999 to coordinate chair responsibilities and suspenses.
*The next full RAPC meeting is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, 6 February 2000 at the Mountain Home First Christian Church.
