In the name of God, Amen. I Joab League of the State of South Carolina Greenville District being in health of body and of perfect mind and memory calling to mind the mortality of my body knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament first I recommend my Soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried at the direction of my Executors. And so touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me I dispose of the same in the following manner first all my lawful debts to be paid. The balance of my estate both real and personal I lend to my beloved wife Patience during her natural life. With this exception only that my three sons James, Elisha, and Joel shall have free priviledge on certain lots of my land which I have caused to be laid out for that purpose so that they do not interfere with my farm nor interrupt their mother during her life my will is that James have free priviledge on a lot of 70 acres whereon he now lives laid out to him 27 March 1829 agreeable to a plat of which he is now in possession laid out by Josiah Kilgore and at the death of my wife said land shall be for him or his lawful heirs. Also that Elisha have priviledge of a lot of 108 acres the plat of which he is now in possession of and whereon he now lives laid out by Josiah Kilgore the 27 March 1829 and at the death of my wife said land shall be for him or his lawful heirs. Also that Joel have priviledge on a lot of 78 acres laid out for that purpose the 27 March 1829 the plat of which he has now in possession and at the death of his mother said land shall be for him or his lawful heirs provided nevertheless that my wife have free priviledge of all those lots during her life to cut timber or do any manner of work without interruption at her death each lot to be given to those above divided agreeable to the plats above named. Another small tract of land called the green pond tract being a part of a tract of 540 acres the most of which I have before conveyed I leave also in possession of my wife during her life. At her death the said tract to be sold to the best advantage and one half of that money to be given to Anna Edwards the other half to be put out at interest till Aries Joneses two daughters Minerva and Semantha who are my grand children shall come to age then that money with the interest to be equally divided between those two children Minerva and Semantha Jones. At the death of my wife my will is that all my perishable property be sold to the best advantage and the money equally divided between my three sons and one daughter whose names are as follows James League, Elisha League, Joel League and Anna Edwards. And lastly I appoint my two sons James and Joel Executors to this my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 3 day of April 1829.
