"A Little Girl Again"

Sometimes I wish I was a little girl again.
To dream of princesses being carried off by
the handsome prince. Or to wish upon the twinkling
star and watch them glow so bright. Sometimes
I wish I was a little girl again to see my wishes,
hopes and prayers come true with the twinkle of
an eye or the flutter of a wand. Or to sit upon
my mothers lap and to feel the warmth within
her heart that took all my fears away. And to
know that she'd be there to protect me forever.
Sometimes I wish I was a little girl again so
I'd never had to feel the hurt one grows to
know when hearts are broken, dreams are shattered
when life isn't at all what you had dreamed.
Sometimes I wish I was a little girl again
when scary things were only in bad dreams and
would disappear by the warmth of someones touch.
And when tears would fade away just by the
tender softness of a kiss by someone
who cared. Sometimes I wish I were a little
girl again to recall the feeling a child
feels when she sees her first snow flake fall
unto the ground. And to romp and play in the snow
as if it were the last she'd ever see.
Sometimes I wish I were a little girl again
to never have to know the hardships that's in
this world today. But to only know the love and
beauty a child feels before she's grown and her
dreams are gone.
