National Archives Listing

Probably the prime search location for military records is the National Archives in Washington, D. C. Since a trip to Washington can be a "bit" of a trip for many of us, there are 11 regional branches of the Archives. Each of these branches have information pertinent to their own region. Most military records do not become public until they are 75 years old, which means we are now able to search the World War I records, the Civil War records, the Spanish-American War records, etc. but not for example World War II records.

Please forgive me if any of these are incorrect. The addresses come from my notes of 1981 and it is possible some of them are out of date. If you find any that are wrong I'd love it if you'd email me and let me know so I can either change or delete the entry. Thanks!
