That God created us, and knew all about us - even before we were born, is amazing enough: but to also learn that He thinks about us continually and that we are precious in His sight is truly wonderful news. Consider for a moment the following scriptures concerning God's thoughts about us:
My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. Knowing how much God loves and cherishes us, and how much He already has done so that we could know Him and relate to Him, what should be our response to our Precious God, and our Savior, Jesus Christ? In the following verse, Peter answers this question by instructing newborn believers that they should stop practicing wrong behaviors and instead offer up spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God. As believers in Jesus Christ, we need to die to self, walk in love towards others, and live for and bring glory to our God.
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
