BETHLEHEM

2,000 years ago a baby was born in Bethlehem. His birth, predicted by prophets, was announced to shepherds by angels proclaiming good news of great joy to all people--that a Savior was born, which is Christ Jesus the Lord!! (Luke 2:8-17)

At that time most people weren’t searching for a Savior, nor did they even understand their need for a Savior. Lack of understanding and apathy concerning God’s plan of salvation continues to prevail in the world today.

As it was 2,000 years ago, so also it is today--proclaiming God’s love and plan of salvation brings light, helping men to see the truth and be set free. Consider the Bethlehem message:

Jesus, the Son of God, the promised Messiah, our Savior, came down from heaven to show us what God was like and to proclaim the Good News that God loves us and has provided a means to save us from our sins. (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6-7, Matthew 1:20-23, Luke 1:27-35, John 1:1-14)

• All of us have sinned, and the result of our sin is death (separation from God), but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus said, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (Romans 3:23-26 & 6:23, John 3:16)

• Jesus was born to give His life for us. He said, "Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13) He did this for us who were lost and separated from God, so that our sins could be forgiven and we could be reconciled to God!!

• Jesus makes a personal invitation to each of us – "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and sup with him and he with me." (Rev. 3:20) What a terrific offer!!

The Bethlehem message is timeless. Wise men still seek Him! Joy still fills men’s hearts as they hear about Jesus Christ and discover the glorious Salvation He has provided through His birth, life, death for us, and resurrection. Peace with God becomes reality as they behold Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah, and receive Him as their Savior, Lord, and King, and receive from the Father the gift of eternal life!!

God continues to offer His Most Precious Gift, eternal life through His Son, Jesus Christ. If you have received Jesus as your Savior you can rejoice with believers of all ages!! If not, you can ask Jesus to forgive your sins and come into your heart right now, and receive God’s Special Gift of Eternal Life! Then you will also be able to rejoice!!
