LAST WORDS

When Jesus was crucified, he spoke seven times from the cross in the presence of those who were gathered at his feet. He last words are recorded below in bold type along with other things he said or were said about him in scripture.

Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, {Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.} And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Proverbs 19:11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and [it is] his glory to pass over a transgression.

Proverbs 24:29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.

Proverbs 25:21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.

Matthew 5:39 {But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.} {And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have [thy] cloke also.} {And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.}

Matthew 5:43 {Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.} {But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;} {That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.} {For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?} {And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more [than others]? do not even the publicans so?} {Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.}

Matthew 6:12 {And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.}

Matthew 6:14 {For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:} {But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.}

Matthew 18:21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, {I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.}

Matthew 18:34 {And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.} {So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.}

Mark 11:25 {And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.} {But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.}

Romans 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but [rather] give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

John 19:26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, {Woman, behold thy son!} Then saith he to the disciple, {Behold thy mother!} And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own [home].

Matthew 25:40 {And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me.}

Matthew 12:48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, {Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?} And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, {Behold my mother and my brethren!} {For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.}

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, {Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.}

Job 33:27 He looketh upon men, and [if any] say, I have sinned, and perverted [that which was] right, and it profited me not; He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light. Lo, all these [things] worketh God oftentimes with man, To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.

Psalms 32:5 I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

Psalms 50:15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

Zechariah 13:7 Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man [that is] my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.

And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, {Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit:} and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

Psalms 31:1 {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. For thou [art] my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me. Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou [art] my strength. Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

I Peter 2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed [himself] to him that judgeth righteously:
